    Growing up in Manitoba, the outdoors wasn't a hobby — it was just life. Raised in a family where the seasons were measured by what was in season, Martin was hunting by age 12. Whitetail deer. Upland birds. Waterfowl on the marshes. Small game in the bush. It was all part of growing up.

    As a young adult, Martin made the move to British Columbia — and spent five or six years there navigating a whole new kind of hunting. The prairies teach you patience and long sightlines. The mountains teach you humility. Every trip into the BC backcountry was a lesson. Then came three years in Alberta before the pull of home won out and Martin made his way back to Manitoba.

    Martin's guiding career started alongside his father. Guiding hunters through Manitoba's best whitetail country was a family affair — and when the opportunity came to buy out his father's partner, Martin took it. What followed was over a decade running a small but highly regarded whitetail camp that built its reputation on results and repeat clients.

    Martin has also put in serious time guiding black bear hunters — a completely different game requiring patience, scouting, and an intimate knowledge of how bears move through the landscape. Add to that guided moose and elk experience, and you have a guide whose résumé covers nearly every major big game species in Western Canada.
